Did she or didn't she? Jennifer Lopez's publicist insisted the singer did not have an accidental nip slip while co-presenting the Academy Awards for best costume design and best makeup, but much of the blogosphere was convinced that wasn't a shadow to be seen on her cleavage-baring Zuhair Murad gown. It was such a talking point that someone created the Twitter account , which had attracted more than 3,000 followers by late Monday afternoon.

J. Lo's chest wasn't the only famous body part on the show. Angelina's leg was just as much of a post-awards talking point, and unlike Lopez, there was no mystery here – Mrs. Brad most certainly intended to flash it. The actress so dramatically jutted her leg out from the slit in her Atelier Versace gown, and with such camp, that one fellow celebrity mused that the pose could become a new Internet meme. The leg also inspired a Twitter account , which had more than 19,000 followers at last count.

Streep's Victory

Meryl Streep is the most nominated actor in Academy Award history, but for many viewers she was still the surprise of the night for nabbing the best-actress award. Never mind that Streep won the Golden Globe for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady; Oscar-watchers were convinced Viola Davis would win. What pushed the balance? Most commentators saw the win as the result of a) playing a historic character b) transfiguring herself through makeup and c) the all-important pass-over effect – after 14 nods but no win it was time for Streep to take the podium.

Billy Crystal's controversial humour

Crystal seemed like the safe choice after Eddie Murphy bowed out from the show, but the 63-year-old actor and comedian made more than a few controversial jokes during his record ninth hosting of the awards. Not only did he make a weight joke at Jonah Hill's expense, he also appeared in blackface in the show's pre-taped opening montage and later said The Help made him want to "hug the first black woman that I saw. Which from Beverly Hills is about a 45-minute drive." One question you never want asked of you as a host, which at least one headline posed: "Was Billy Crystal's Oscar performance racist?"

Did Sacha Baron Cohen jump the shark?

Did Sacha Baron Cohen's red-carpet stunt backfire? Sure, his appearance in character as General Aladeen, the despot he plays in the upcoming comedy The Dictator, had plenty of people talking. But unfortunately for Baron Cohen, a lot of them were talking about how tired his act has become. What was once hilariously irreverent back in the days of Borat has since become so much lame self-promotional buffoonery. Besides, satirizing North African dictators seems easy, especially when the real ones have been knocked off already.
