tiff 2012

'Don't you want me, baby?" is what Joss Whedon, here at TIFF for Much Ado About Nothing, mouthed to me at the smartwater-sponsored Creative Artists Agency party on Sunday night at Cinema in Liberty Village.

"Don't you want me? Ohhhhhh," was his follow-up.

It turns out the director of the biggest blockbuster movie of the year, The Avengers, loves to dance to 1980s music. We locked eyes during the chorus of the classic Human League song and suddenly we were clinking glasses, heads bopping in unison, taking turns lip-synching to each other with way too much enthusiasm to be cool. Which is actually kind of appropriate.

After all, Mr. Whedon is a hero to the geeks. I think we would have all been disappointed if he started busting moves like Channing Tatum.

While Mr. Whedon was throwing down his nerd boogie, Zoe Kravitz and Penn Badgley, who is receiving solid reviews for his portrayal of Jeff Buckley in Greetings From Tim Buckley, were all over each other as her very large stepfather, Jason Momoa, a.k.a. Khal Drogo from Game Of Thrones, supervised nearby.

At one point, Ms. Kravitz, fresh off removing her lips from Mr. Badgley's, pulled Mr. Momoa's face down to her level and kissed him, too. She then went back to her boyfriend and they resumed canoodling. Needless to say, Mr. Badgley, whose ex-girlfriend Blake Lively married Ryan Reynolds hours before, wasn't bothered by the news.

Although I didn't see Chris Evans dancing at the CAA event, he was hard to miss as the only man in a white muscle tee in a room full of suits.

Mr. Evans, who is at TIFF with The Iceman is, of course, most famous for playing Captain America in the Marvel movies. I can confirm that Captain America's biceps required no CGI.

Mr. Evans was wearing a black sweater when he came into the eTalk Lounge at the Intercontinental Hotel on Monday morning.

After his interview, he was invited to select a few items from the gift suite. True story – the Brazil butt lift has been quite popular.

Adrian Grenier had one stuffed into his bag that was full of swag the other day, including women's lingerie – size extra small. Mr. Evans, on the other hand, passed on everything but a bottle of Grey Goose vodka.

Before he left us, he ran into co-star Winona Ryder and greeted her with a big hug.

Ms. Ryder looked beautiful in a green silk dress that was pretty much vintage. She told Danielle McGimsie that she's had it for 10 years, making her, perhaps, the only actress at TIFF to have recycled anything from her wardrobe.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, if Jennifer Garner borrows your breast pump, she will send you back a new one.

I hear that Ms. Garner, whose six-month-old son Samuel did not come to TIFF, was with husband Ben Affleck at Terroni on Friday night and asked the staff to locate one for her.

She was very gracious the next day, sending the lender a brand-new pump in appreciation with a personal note.
