Though the festival continues for five more days, last night marked the end of a buzzy week of TIFF evening happening and post-premiere parties. Nolan Bryant reports

Evening six for me began with a cocktail reception far from festival party HQ. It was backyard drinks hosted by U.S. Ambassador to Canada Bruce Heyman and his wife Vicki Heyman at the residence of the U.S. Consul General in Toronto, Juan Alsace and his wife Nancy Alsace, in Forest Hill. The 4th year of the event honoured TIFF and the American Friends of TIFF, and Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell was among them who gathered.

A little while later downtown, the cast of Montreal-born director Kim Nguyen's new film Two Lovers and a Bear were being celebrated by Fashion Magazine. The cast was all on hand, including Dane DeHaan, Tatiana Maslany, Kakki Peter, Vinnie Karetak and Anubha Momin.

Over at SoHo House, Grey Goose Vodka was wrapping up their week of solid parties. Firstly, a dinner was served following the international premiere of Wakefield, the stars of which, including Bryan Cranston and Jennifer Garner were in attendance. Also out for the small sit-down were writer/director Robin Swicord, supporting cast Victoria Bruno and Ian Anthony Dale, producers Carl Moellenberg, Wendy Federman and Elliot Webb.

Later in the evening in the same space, it was the premiere party for Bronx-born director Kenneth Lonergan's Manchester by the Sea. Michelle Williams was among the first to show, joined shortly thereafter by producer Matt Damon, cast-mates Kyle Chandler, Casey Affleck and Lucas Hedges and Amazon Studios' worldwide head of motion pictures Jason Ropell.

Nearby at the The Addisons Residence, Johnnie Walker presented a screening party for Deepwater Horizon, the latest from director Peter Berg. The film's leads Mark Wahlberg, Kate Hudson, Kurt Russell and Gina Rodriguez were all on hand for the event, also out was composer Steve Jablonsky, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist David Barstow, whose New York Times piece "Deepwater Horizon's Final Hours" inspired the film, and Mike Williams, the real-life Deepwater Horizon hero who Wahlberg plays in the film.
