It now appears Brad Pitt will be in Toronto Friday evening for the premiere of 12 Years a Slave, the new movie from British filmmaker Steve McQueen (Hunger, Shame). Various tweeters say his presence is confirmed, even though he was in the U.K. on a movie set on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, one of his costars, Michael Fassbender, is already in town.

The big speculation is whether George Clooney, who stars in Gravity and produced August: Osage County (starring Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts) will be in town this weekend. A report from last week said he was skipping this year's festival, but hope lives on in Twitter.
