The premise of Jonathan Williams's short film – a pair of escaped cons fleeing through the wilderness steal a canoe with its paddler onboard in a spin on carjacking – might strike some as groaningly Canadian. But it's actually very, very funny. At just seven minutes, the joke isn't long enough to grow tired, thankfully. And while the dialogue veers to the cheesy once or twice, it's mostly packed with chuckles, especially where the script mines the practice of nudist canoeing, dubbed "canoe-dism," for laughs.

Sept. 13, 6:15 p.m., and Sept. 14, 9:30 a.m., TIFF Bell Lightbox.
