Jamie (Shane Lynch), an innocent American girl from Iowa, has just arrived in France for what should have been a routine student exchange. But she finds herself caught up in a disturbing web of lies and family secrets involving the beautiful Cécile (Hande Kodja), who becomes both Jamie's BFF and her romantic adversary as they battle for the attentions of the handsome and kind Luc (Pierre Boulanger). Ms. Kodja has a remarkable screen presence and shines as the girl who may be a victim – or a con artist. But the film is too heavy-handed in its exploration of truth and lies, and it is rife with worn clichés of French versus American girls, right down to Jamie's virginity and tight gingham shirt.
