A cheerfully offbeat Aussie take on superhero movies, with True Blood star Ryan Kwanten playing a socially maladroit office worker (by day) and a frowning, rubber-suited crime-buster at night.
Curiously, the Clark Kent scenes work best. Especially when Kwanten bumps into his Lois Lane (Maeve Dermody – absolutely charming), a math geek who, upon downing a glass of water, exclaims, "Isn't it funny to think I just poured hydrogen and oxygen into a hole in my face and now it's merging with the other atoms in my body to become part of me."
Smartly filmed in vibrant, Dick Tracy comic-book colours. With a bracing score from the Australian pop group Kids at Risk. Lots of fun until debut director Leon Ford gets lost in sci-fi action bits in the last reel.
