Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi, the multiple-award-winning director of Iranian New Wave cinema, will lead the competition jury for this year's Montreal World Film Festival. The festival has been a booster of films from Iran in past years, including works by director Majid Majidi, which won the festival's grand prize three times in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Other jury members this year include Japanese actor-director Eiji Okuda, Quebe actor-producer David La Haye and others. The Montreal festival runs from Aug. 27 to Sept. 7. Staff
