Joss Whedon superfans, put down your Firefly collectibles and listen up: Now is your chance to appear in one of his movies.
No, not the upcoming Avengers movie he's directing, unfortunately. Instead, Whedon is using eBay to auction off a role in his microstudio's sophomore movie, In Your Eyes.
A "supernatural romance" written by Whedon, the movie "tells a metaphysical love story about two polar opposites who are deeply connected in ways neither could have ever imagined," according to a statement.
The walk-on role being auctioned on eBay had received 29 bids by early Friday afternoon. The high bidder at the time was willing to shell out US $2,550. The bidding is set to end on Nov. 11.
Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Adrienne Shelly Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides grants, scholarships and other financial support to female actors, writers and directors.
Whedon, who proved once again he's no stranger to building buzz with his microstudio's first feature, which was filmed in secret last month, seems to be at it again.
The eBay posting does not provide details of the role, but it does say the winner "will be able to bring a friend to watch and experience their big debut!"
