Paramount Pictures and Twitter have joined forces to offer movie fans the chance to see sneak-peek screenings of J.J. Abram's anticipated new thriller, Super 8, the day before it opens wide on Friday.

The promotion is for one day only (Thursday); people can access it at www.Super8-Movie.com/Sneak. The studio hopes that people who see the movie a day early will then tweet about it at #Super8Secret, a hashtag that Twitter has designated as a promoted trend, and help sell the movie.

Produced by Steven Spielberg, Super 8 is set to play on over 300 IMAX and other select screens in North America on Thursday. It will mark the first time Twitter has hosted sneak previews of a Hollywood film.

The duo previously joined forces in March to premiere the movie's trailer on Twitter, another first for the site.

The film is set in 1979, when a group of young friends in Ohio witness a horrific train crash while making a super-8 movie and soon realize it was not an accident.
