Wild Roses - Sarah Power, Kim Huffman, Michelle Harrison.

1. Canadian TV can be really,

really slow to notice what's

hot and what's not

This year's already-defunct CBC drama Wild Roses was set in a boomtown Calgary of mega-money, macho oilmen and mercenary women of low morals. Cute, and looking more like a glossy magazine photo feature than a TV drama, it arrived two years too late.

2. Late-night is a boys-only love-in

In the wake of sixtysomething David Letterman revealing his raking ways with the young ladies who work for him, it was calculated that the writing teams working for Letterman's Late Show , The Jay Leno Show and The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien do not include one woman.

3. Nobody tells the truth

about what they watch on TV

NCIS: Los Angeles is a huge hit, but no one has ever met anyone who admits to watching it.

4. As much as you hate your cable

company, the cable companies hate the TV broadcasters more

In fact, the cable companies would prefer that TV didn't exist. In an ideal world, they could just charge you to watch dumb movies and porn - the money-making stuff.

5. As much as some people loathe

the CBC, CBC bosses hate us more

Anyone critical of CBC's zippy new stand-up news format is "pathetic," as CBC executive vice-president Richard Stursberg described naysayers on the blog InsideTheCBC.com.
