The more things change, the more things stay the same, at least as far as ARTnews magazine's annual survey of the planet's top 200 art collectors is concerned.

Four Canadians made the list released this week - the same four, in fact, as last year. They are: Toronto's David Thomson (cited for collecting Old Masters and modern and contemporary art); Ydessa Hendeles, another Torontonian and head of the Ydessa Hendeles Art Foundation (for contemporary art and photography); Joey and Toby Tanenbaum of Toronto (for naive art and African art); and Montrealers Arnold and Blema Steinberg (for collecting modern and contemporary art).

It's the 19th consecutive year that New York-based ARTnews has compiled the list, based on a survey of museum directors, dealers, auctioneers and art consultants in more than 20 countries. The magazine lists the collectors alphabetically by surname. As ever, collectors from the U.S. and Europe dominate the Top 200.
