Broken Social Scene will give opera standards a rock twist at the Canadian Opera Company's annual fundraising party.

The Toronto rockers have been announced as the headliners at Cinderella: Rock the Ball on Oct. 29, held at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts.

The Juno-winning band will tackle well-known opera favourites at the event, which will also feature a performance by local singer and thereminist Clara Venice.

The event will also include a silent auction and a cocktail reception celebrating Rossini's opera, La Cenerentola.

Tickets cost $150 per person.
