You Know My Name

By Courtney Love; streaming here.

Hard, fast and cheap – the new tune from tough Courtney Love is about her. It's punked up, with guitar and bass chugging as unrepentantly as Love herself.

"You know my name, I'll bring the truth," she vows, "I'll never change." This is Love facing her detractors, not giving an inch or a damn, with a defiant stance that recalls Al Pacino's shameless Scarface thug, who points out the hypocrisy of how the "bad guy" is viewed by polite society.

"And all this world is burning down, and all this world's a stage," Love bawls, "and all of you, you look like clowns, and all this world's a cage." She then ends the cut with a scream that might have Roger Daltrey offering her a lozenge.

Look at her, and then make way for her, for we'll never see a badass quite like Love again.
