Do you wanna feel old? Jennifer Diane Lewis, the former child actress, is now 38. But to answer the question, none of us, including Jenny Lewis, wants to feel old.

On her new single Just One of the Guys, the sharp songwriter laments not only a clock that ticks louder for women, but the realization that she has no one with whom to commiserate. Though the Beck-produced track has an easygoing, alt-country, life-in-July vibe, the lyrical concern is frank and poignant: "When I look at myself, all I can see; I'm just another lady without a baby."

Lewis has always had a ballsy swagger to her, but here she sings about being "locked in this bathroom full of tears" and being "the only sister to my own sorrow." I am woman, hear me cry is what she's getting at – a sentiment as strong as a roar.

Women in rock and in general are judged differently than men, which is a tradition that never seems to grow old.
