A few months after portraying a musician in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Michael Cera is hitting the road on a real-life tour with indie-rock band Mister Heavenly.
A spokeswoman for the band's label, Sub Pop, says the 22-year-old Brampton, Ont., native will join the band for its upcoming 10-city West Coast tour, which does not yet include any Canadian dates.
Cera will play bass guitar, though the label representative could not confirm whether the actor is now a full-time member of the band.
Mister Heavenly, whose signing to Sub Pop was announced only days ago, is the new project of Canadian musician Nick Diamonds, formerly a member of Islands and the Unicorns.
The band also includes members of Man Man and Modest Mouse.
Mister Heavenly's debut full-length is due in 2011.
Cera, meanwhile, has showcased his musical chops before.
Aside from Pilgrim, he also played music on the Grammy-winning soundtrack of his 2007 hit film, Juno, and displayed his musical prowess on the 2009 film, Paper Heart.
