The Ottawa band MonkeyJunk.Scott Doubt

Ottawa's MonkeyJunk again cleaned up at the Maple Blues Awards, taking a leading five trophies at Monday's ceremony, including entertainer of the year and songwriter of the year, and bringing their lifetime total to 20 wins at the awards since 2008.

The band also claimed the prizes for electric act of the year, recording of the year for "All Frequencies" and harmonica player of the year for Steve Marriner.

In other awards, Angel Forrest of Montreal won female vocalist of the year, Quebec-based duo Dawn Tyler Watson and Paul Deslauriers claimed the prize for acoustic act of the year with Deslauriers also being honoured as guitar player of the year, and the MacKenzie Blues Band of Owen Sound, Ont., won new artist or group of the year.

Vancouver's Jim Byrnes won male vocalist of the year at the gala, which was held at Toronto's Koerner Hall.
