Paul McCartney's On the Run tour will play at Vancouver's B.C. Place in late November in one of two Canadian concert dates for the legendary former Beatle.

Paul Haagenson, president of Live Nation Canada, worked for three years to bring the music icon back to Vancouver.

"Make no mistake. This is the show for every kid, every mom and dad, their mom and dad, their aunt and uncle, you and your friends, that you're going to want to be a part of," he said. "The show is nothing short of absolutely spectacular."

Bruce Allen, owner of a talent management company, attended Mr. McCartney's last Vancouver performance almost 50 years ago. It was August 22, 1964 when the Beatles first played in Canada.

"The last time he was here, it was total pandemonium," he said.

More than 20,000 fans packed into Empire Stadium, he said, to hear the foursome play 14 songs in less than half an hour. Ticketless fans broke down the gates, he said, and city cops tried to hold them back with snarling dogs.

This year, McCartney will play at B.C. Stadium on Sunday, November 25. Three days later, he will face another Canadian crowd at Edmonton's Rexall Place. Fans will be able to purchase tickets, which range in price from $35 to $250, next week.

McCartney's On the Run tour has already played more than 30 dates across Europe, North America, South America and the United Arab Emirates.
