Toronto holiday guide: what's playing this week

Gary Morgan was born in Santiago but moved to Toronto at the age of 2.

Stan Douglas

The Vancouver artist has become fascinated with the hard-boiled, post-Second World War North American photography of figures such as Arthur Fellig (a.k.a. Weegee) and Canada's own Raymond Munro. For his new show, Entertainment: Selections from Midcentury Studio, Douglas hired actors to produce staged photographs that emulate the period's obsession with noir-ish drama, magic, dance, sporting events, gambling and fashion. Noon to 8 p.m. $3 to $6 (5 to 8 p.m., free). Power Plant, 231 Queens Quay W., 416-973-4949.
