Over the past year, a Feist-faced monster has sporadically surfaced the water, with Toronto sightings reported at Jason Collett's Basement Revue concert at the Great Hall in December and more recently at the Field Trip festival on the grounds at Fort York.
Now, the indie-rock beast has been confirmed as Hydra, which is not a skin-care product but a new, rhythmically curious, band composed of the Montreal duo AroarA, the Toronto twosome Snowblink and the 1234 singer herself. The three-headed thing, which was unofficially scheduled to appear at the Luminato Fesival in Toronto on Tuesday, isn't Feist's first monster mash.
Last summer brought the creature known as Feistodon, an animal that produced a split seven-inch single featuring Feist and the fur-covered heavy metalists Mastodon covering one another.
No plans for a Hydra record have been announced, but fans haven't been this excited about a collaboration since Feist counted her chickens on Sesame Street in 2008.
