U.S. talkshow host Larry King is in discussions about a media venture with friend and billionaire Carlos Slim of Mexico, a spokesman for Mr. Slim said Friday.

Larry King has been named this year's recipient of the Banff World Media Festival's Lifetime Achievement Award, and will attend the event next June to receive the prize.

"I am most appreciative of this tremendous award," said King, in a statement released by the Festival on Wednesday.

King hosted Larry King Live on CNN for 25 years, conducting more than 50,000 interviews in total throughout his broadcast career. He has been recognized with Peabody and Emmy Awards.

"Larry King is one of the most significant contributors to the broadcast industry, heralded for his unique and unwavering approach to piquing public interest and creating new discourse," said the Banff festival's executive director Ferne Cohen, in a statement.

This year's festival, running June 10-13, will also feature Mike Fleiss, creator of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette series, and the president and CEO of The Onion, Steve Hannah.
