AWARDS 32nd Annual Genie Awards CBC, 8 p.m. ET/PT Where’s Andrea Martin? The former SCTV star backed out of hosting the 32nd annual Canadian film awards at the eleventh hour yesterday, citing a rescheduled previous commitment in Los Angeles. Ms. Martin has, however, deigned to appear in pre-taped vignettes with co-host George Stroumboulopoulos during the live broadcast from a Toronto Hotel. Leading the nominations this year are Jean-Marc Vallee’s romantic film Café de Flore, with 13 nods, followed by David Cronenberg’s fact-based drama A Dangerous Method, with 11 nominations. In between the handing out of trophies, the program will feature musical turns from Saskatchewan rockers The Sheepdogs and the Somali-Canadian artist known as K’naan.

DRAMA Person of Interest CBS, CITY-TV, 9 p.m. ET/PT Finally back in new episodes, this offbeat crime drama has become appointment viewing for many people on Thursday night. The set-up involves a billionaire computer genius named Finch, played by ex-Lost regular Michael Emerson, who creates a program that identifies people on the verge of perpetrating a violent crime. Because he's a good guy, Finch enlists the sullen ex-CIA agent Reese (Jim Caviezel) to stop the crime before it happens. But imagine their surprise in tonight's episode when the computer spits out the name of a six-month-old baby. Complicating the situation further is the return of the wannabe crime boss known as Elias, played by Toronto's own Enrico Colantoni.

MOVIE Pretty Poison TCM, 10:15 p.m. ET; 7:15 p.m. PT Filmgoers were rattled by this movie in 1968, courtesy of yet another unsettling performance by Anthony Perkins. The star of Psycho plays to type in his portrayal of Dennis, an intense young man recently released from a mental institution. While wandering through New England, he stops in a small town and draws the attention of fresh-scrubbed cheerleader Sue Ann (Tuesday Weld) by telling her he's a secret agent working for the government. Dennis convinces the teenager to accompany him on a series of “missions.” Imagine his surprise when she happily agrees.
