A career in comedy was always in the cards for Ryan Belleville.

Currently pulling laughs on the Showcase series Almost Heroes, Belleville was still in his teens when he began performing improv at the Loose Moose Theatre Company in his hometown of Calgary. From there he took his act on the road by appearing in comedy and theatre festivals across Canada and Australia. Belleville's next move was to Toronto, where he studied at Humber College's school of comedy and honed his stand-up act. He became the youngest comic ever given his own showcase special on Comedy Now! No stranger to U.S. television, Belleville played a recurring character on the 2005 Fox sitcom Life on a Stick. On Almost Heroes, he plays a wisecracking slacker and co-proprietor of a struggling comic-book store. Not surprisingly, comedy figures strongly in Belleville's current TV favourites.

Every week they take it to a new level in comedy. It's very fast paced and very silly, but I also love the story structure. It's actually a pretty simple show, but everyone seems to take their characters so seriously.

Parks and Recreation
I've always loved Amy Poehler and she's great in this show. The character of her office superior Ron is also hilarious. You can watch him do nothing and he's still funny. The addition of Rob Lowe this season was a great choice because he's not usually considered a comic actor, but he is really funny.

Game of Thrones
I read the books first, and I'm going to go out there and say I think the show is better than the books. The TV version had to be really gritty to make it feel real. I wouldn't say the show is more graphic than the books. Literary violence is of course less unsettling than actually seeing it onscreen.

Almost Heroes airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on Showcase.
