Pull out the leg warmers — "Flashdance — The Musical" is set to hit Toronto.

Mirvish Productions says it will stage the adaptation of the 1983 dance film at the Ed Mirvish Theatre from May 27 through June 8.

Renowned Toronto-raised choreographer Sergio Trujillo directs and choreographs the show, which has been touring the U.S.

As with the film, the story follows a Pittsburgh welder and bar dancer as she pursues her dream of becoming a professional performer.

Robert Cary and Tom Hedley wrote the book for the stage version.

Songs include the film's Oscar-winning title tune as well as "Maniac," "Gloria," "Manhunt" and 16 brand new tracks.

Robbie Roth penned the music for the new tunes and co-wrote the lyrics with Robbie Roth.

In a recent interview with The Canadian Press, Trujillo said he originally wanted to debut the show in Toronto but couldn't due to logistics.

"One of my ex-girlfriends from back when I was in high school, when she found out I was directing/choreographing, she said: 'Oh my God, do you remember when we went to see it?' The two of us, all of a sudden we just burst into the theatre door and we were dancing to that 'Maniac' song.

"So it was my hope for it to start here but unfortunately due to unforeseen reasons the plan was changed, which kind of broke my heart a little bit."

Tickets for the Toronto run go on sale on Wednesday.
