U.S. politics, policy and bilateral relations, with occasional forays into business

I've been based in the U.S. since January 2017, with reporting trips here the year before that.

My coverage has included everything from the Capitol riot to the failed pandemic response to anti-racism protests; two presidential elections, two impeachments and two inaugurations.

I've also done deep-dives on voter suppression in Wisconsin, demographic sea change in Georgia, immigration politics in Pennsylvania, the country's unequal healthcare system in rural Virginia, and climate change in Michigan and Louisiana.

U.S.-Canada bilateral relations are a frequent focus. During the renegotiation of NAFTA and the continental trade war, I reported extensively on the talks themselves, and spent time in Mexico and the U.S. Midwest to understand the ground-level effects of free trade.

Previously, I covered Ontario provincial politics in The Globe's Queen's Park bureau for four years. Before that, I was a general assignment reporter on the Toronto desk.
