Josh O’Kane covers technology and innovation for The Globe and Mail's Report on Business. His narrative writing has been highlighted by Harvard’s Nieman Storyboard and Great Canadian Longform, and he has twice been part of Globe reporting teams that won SABEW Best in Business Canada awards for breaking news.

In his spare time, Josh writes about music and the business behind it. His 2016 book, Nowhere With You, examines the music and career of Joel Plaskett through the lens of leaving and staying in Canada's Maritime provinces. It is a national bestseller.

Josh was a 2019 Arthur F. Burns Fellow with the International Center for Journalists, reporting out of the Handelsblatt newsroom in Berlin. He has also lived and reported in Halifax, Fredericton, and Saint John, N.B.
