We're happy to announce a major upgrade to The Globe and Mail's Android app.

At first glance, it might seem like not a lot is different. But behind the scenes, we've made a lot of substantial improvements to the guts of our app. Android devices have changed a lot since we first launched, and we received a lot of feedback from readers who wished the app ran a bit better on their new Androids.

With that in mind, we spent a lot of time under the hood on a slew of nerdy things like caching and memory management. But fundamentally our goal was to deliver an update that is super fast and rock solid.

We've also made some small changes to the design of the app -- most notably an entirely new navigation experience -- in order to make it easier to use on the latest and greatest Android phones.

We're also going to continue to make improvements to this app, so please (as always) pass along any feedback you might have in terms of new features you'd like to see, or issues you're having on your phone.

You can drop us an e-mail at mobile@globeandmail.com or find me on Twitter @mattfrehner.
