A loaf of bread, a jug of wine and thou? Sounds good, as does a comfy coastal perch overlooking an endless horizon. Pass the Chablis! Chanel sweatshirt, $3,375, pants, $2,600 at Chanel boutiques across Canada. Manolo Blahnik shoes, $725, Equipment silk blouse, $316 at Holt Renfrew. HBC blanket, $350 at Hudson’s Bay. Picnic basket, $125 at Cynthia Findlay Antiques.

I asked readers recently if they agreed with my post about five things that get under readers' skin. I heard from dozens of you who either agreed or added a few of their own the list. Here are just a few of them:

"My comment is that journalists do not seem to read their work over after they have written it, so that there are always stray words that don't make sense. Maybe they don't have time? Maybe they just assume that if the Spellcheck is OK then what they wrote makes sense. (By the way, have you noticed that Spellcheck does not allow "Spellcheck"?!)"

"I am really tired of these unrealistic fashion portrayals. (July 13) I really would have enjoyed seeing the young woman on the red blanket get to the red blanket in those Manolo Blahnik shoes – I am sure it was hilarious – what everyone should wear to a cottage in the Muskokas. Seriously – most young people are wearing flip flops in case anybody is noticing. The other model in the peasant dress certainly wouldn't be hiking on the Bruce Trail in that get-up!"

"Please add the 6th one: News items on wrong pages. Take today's edition: Saturday, July 13, 2013. Ambassador ... page 8 (Found on page 12). Nalala at the UN ... page 5 (found on page 9). These are NOT isolated incidents. They happen quite regularly and annoy me to quite an extent."

" I am surprised that you did not mention the concern regarding the inability to get letters published."

"There are too many ads, especially in the Style and Travel sections; too much fluff and not enough international news."
