The KOLSOL TS61 tire-pressure monitoring system alerts you when a tire is low.

KOLSOL TS61 TPMS

Available at: Amazon.ca

Price: $76.99

You’re driving down the highway and slowly realize the car is pulling to one side. That’s odd. You keep driving. Then someone passes you, pointing at your rear tire. Yes, that’s odd too. You finally pull over to discover you have been destroying a perfectly good tire. If you’d paid attention or had an alert, you could have fixed the puncture but now, it’s a costly new tire.

There are a few valve mounted TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system) gauges on the market that take the guess out of your tire pressure, some more expensive models use apps and key fobs, but there are simpler models that just plug into the lighter to connect wirelessly to the mini-monitors.

Take the cap off your tire air valves and install the little TPMS sensors. A special tool is included for the installation to lock the sensors on.

They should read the pressure and the temperature for two years before the battery needs to be replaced. Four numbers are shown on the monitor in the cab or on your app related to each tire. If a tire starts to leak, visual warnings and an alarm alerts you.

Maintaining proper air pressure will improve fuel efficiency and increase the life of your tires.
