Why aren't there microwaves in our glove boxes?
Ever since I heard that Honda was building a vacuum into a minivan I've been thinking about that worthless space-waster, the glove box, and thinking about other appliances we could integrate. Warming my coffee up? My burrito? A bottle full or milk or formula for a fussy infant? The possibilities are endless.
However, I ran across something that could serve your reheating needs in a pinch: The Diono Warm N Go in-car bottle warmer. It's a neoprene sleeve, like a beer caddy, with a low-temp heating element that plugs into your 12V socket.
Should you need a bottle or a jar of food warmed up when a baby starts grouching during a car trip, this thing can do the job. In my tests, five minutes of warming were enough to take the edge off a cold bottle, and 20 minutes enough to get about three ounces of chilled milk back to the lukewarm room temperature my one-year-old will accept.
The same test with a small jar of puréed food was reasonably successful, but it took longer to get warm. I wish it got a little hotter, but there are safety reasons for why it can't heat up to scalding temps. All told, it's not a bad unit for less than $15.
Sadly, I wouldn't recommend putting a burrito in there and it's a little narrow for a standard cup of coffee.
