Stiff and crinkly or soft and cushy – which would you rather sit on? After a decade of neglect in the sun and harsh winter, your car's leather seats could use a day at the spa – or at least a rub down with a refreshing skin cream.

We put Mothers Leather Cream Moisture-Rich Conditioner to the test on a pair of 20-year-old cowboy boots that have seen a lot of misuse. After cleaning the "true grit" off the leather with the leather wash, the cream was applied with the supplied foam application pad. Dipping into it was like dipping into silky smooth expensive face cream. The combination of conditioning oils and aloe smoothed over the leather easily and soaked in. The leather instantly felt years younger (and so did my hands). A quick rub with a micro cloth made the old leather look fresh, feel supple and smell wonderful.

The jar looks inadequate but a little goes a long way. It could easily do a set of seats a few times over. It's great for leather, but stay away from perforated leather or suede-like material.
