KIA GT4 STINGER

Off the record, Kia officials say this sexy sports car will become a production model. On the record, Maria Soklis, Kia Canada vice-president and chief operating officer, says Kia has “no definite plans to bring the GT4 Stinger into production. But it is a driveable concept, so if we decide to bring it to production, we’ll be able to move quickly.” The low-slung, 315-horsepower sports car has the potential to change the world’s view of Kia. It will be built.

NISSAN SPORT SEDAN

Nissan says this is a “four-door sedan with the aura of a real sports car.” It also previews the look of the next Nissan Maxima. “The Sport Sedan Concept shows a new, highly emotional and energetic design direction that takes Nissan’s legendary approach of applying sports car principles to a sedan to the next level,” says Shiro Nakamura, Nissan vice-president and chief creative officer. It will be built.

JAGUAR C-X17

Jaguar has all but confirmed plans for this crossover, which was first shown last fall at the Frankfurt auto show. Few doubt Jaguar will introduce an all-wheel-drive crossover based on this concept. “The C-X17 sports crossover represents an exciting new direction for Jaguar. Its purpose is to highlight our all-new aluminum architecture. With this technical foundation, we will dramatically expand Jaguar's product offering, market potential and customer appeal,” Jaguar senior executive Adrian Hallmark said at its introduction. Various reports suggest the production version of this crossover will be named the XQ or Q-Type. It will be built.

INFINITI Q50 EAU ROUGE

This muscular concept premiered at the 2014 Detroit auto show and is, say Infiniti officials, “a seductive glimpse of Infiniti’s design prowess in sports-orientated vehicles.” Johan de Nysschen, Infiniti Motor Co. president, said in Detroit that the Q50 Eau Rouge takes its cues from Formula One race cars, but more importantly, the concept points to the direction of a new wave of Infiniti models planned for 2016. “If we built this car, I would expect it to feature over 500 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque,” de Nysschen said in a statement. Something very much like this will be built.

MERCEDES-BENZ CONCEPT GLA 45 AMG

Here is a car close to production-ready – a vision of a future compact, high-performance SUV. The engine is an AMG 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with an output of 360 hp that promises low fuel consumption. Tobias Moers, board chairman of Mercedes-AMG GmbH, says this concept sets a stake "firmly in the ground of the strongly growing market segment of compact SUVs. Our customers – a young target group who set great store by styling, dynamism and independence – can now start looking forward to a dynamic high-performance car.” It will be built.
