The first Corollas arrived in Canada in 1969, and have become bigger and safer with every new model, almost doubling in weight since their debut.

In 1973, the Corolla had a base price of $2443. It boasted reclining seats, nylon carpet and "a dash, steering wheel and gear shift knob that feel like wood."

In 1980, the Corolla had a 1.8-litre engine. An eight-track tape deck and power steering were optional.
