2016 Mazda MX-5
The fourth generation of the MX-5, known as Roadster in Japan, was just released.
The car, formerly known as the Miata, has been in production for 25 years.
Until now, every redesign has meant a larger, heavier car to meet demands for safety and environmental performance. This latest generation is 100 kg lighter than the previous model.
Having sold over 940,000 of these cars in its lifespan, Mazda holds the Guinness World Record for the best-selling two-seater sports car, claims the company.
The car will arrive in dealerships starting next year.
Front-midship engine, rear-wheel drive car will maintain the car’s front-rear 50:50 weight distribution.
The pedals, controls and other equipment are positioned for good ergonomics for the driver.
Available with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
The design is based on Mazda’s “KODO - Soul of Motion” design language.
The soft top can be operated while seated.
Headrest speakers benefit convertible drivers when the top is down.
