Latvian airline Air Baltic Corp., has become the latest customer for the new Bombardier Inc. C Series airplane.

The airline signed a letter of intent to buy 10 CS300 versions of the plane and acquired purchase rights for another 10. If all 20 are converted to firm orders, the deal would be worth $1.57-billion at list prices, Bombardier said Tuesday at the Farnborough International Air Show in Britain.

The first flight of the C Series is scheduled before the end of 2012 with delivery to customers before the end of 2013.

Bombardier also has a conditional order for five CS100 and 10 CS300 jetliners placed by an unidentified customer earlier this week at the air show. That deal could be worth $1.02-billion (U.S.) at list prices, the Montreal-based transportation giant said in a statement Sunday.
