Toronto-based Celestica Inc. says its first-quarter profit was up dramatically from a year ago, rising to $25.9-million (U.S.) or 11 cents per share.

The contract manufacturer, which makes products for brand-name companies, says its revenue was $1.52-billion - up $50-million from a year before.
