CGI Group Inc. has extended its 15-year relationship with the Business Development Bank of Canada by winning a multimillion-dollar contract.
The Montreal-based information technology company will develop a commercial lending IT program.
The program will use Microsoft technology and various other systems.
CGI won the contract, whose precise value wasn't disclosed, through a tender process.
"We are confident that CGI as a partner will help us make our operations more efficient so that we can offer better service to entrepreneurs across Canada," stated Edmee Metivier, executive vice president, financing and consulting at the bank, a federal financing agency.
BDC offers financing, venture capital and consulting services to 29,000 small and medium sized companies across Canada.
Founded in 1976, CGI Group is one of the largest independent information technology and business process services firms in the world with about $4.5 billion in annual revenues.
It employs about 31,000 people in Canada, the United States, Europe and Asia.
On the Toronto Stock Exchange, CGI lost 12 cents at $19.90 in morning trading.
