Apparel manufacturer Gildan Activewear Inc. (TSX:GIL) says its third-quarter profits rose to US$94.1 million as it posted higher sales.

Gildan, which reports in U.S. dollars, said the net income was equal to 77 cents per share.

That compares to profits of $64.7 million, or 53 cents per share a year ago.

Sales increased 34 per cent to $529.8 million from $395.3 million.
