Mobile financial data
The Globe Investor app is one of our premier mobile services, available on BlackBerry and Apple's iOS devices.
Inside the app's live market data you can view -- in close to real time -- U.S. and Canadian indexes, stocks, ETFs, commodities, currencies and funds.
On each ticker item, an arrow button on the right side expands the list of features, which include metrics, charts, news and more. You can click through to a full-screen version for even more data, and have the ability to add the ticker to your Watchlist.
Just like on your desktop computer, the app shows all your existing Watchlists, and lets you edit and create new ones as well.
Unlike the mobile web Watchlist, which limits the amount of market data you can review, the Investor app has live charts, dynamic updates and several pages of metrics to help you track stock, index and fund performance. It's as close to the desktop experience as you can get on the go.
From Watchlist you can also easily switch between the stock overview and the news related to the tickers you monitor. You'll find the latest news, features, blogs and columns from the award-winning reporters of Report on Business and Globe Investor. If you've read something you want to hold on to for later, just hit the star button in the upper right corner and it will save the story in the "Favourites" section.
Another handy feature you may like is the ability to "enable offline reading" (found under Settings), which will let you open and read stories the app loaded just before you ducked into the subway or hit that WiFi dead zone.
