For this week's live discussion at Inside the Market, we were joined by Kash Pashootan, vice-president and portfolio manager at First Avenue Advisory of Raymond James. He is a Chartered Investment Manager and has more than a decade experience in the financial services industry.

Mr. Pashootan is a dividend investor with holdings in both U.S. and Canada, and lately has been gravitating to American equities. Some of his biggest holdings are in the Canadian telecommunications sector - which last week got hammered as the Globe and Mail reported that Verizon has made a bid to set up shop in Canada.

We discussed what investors should consider doing now with their telecom investments - and what other stocks are looking attractive even as last month's spike in long-term interest rates undermines the performance of dividend stocks.
