Wi-LAN Inc. , which closed up 3.5 per cent on Tuesday, announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has confirmed the validity of all the claims in WiLAN's US Patent No. 5,828,402 along with more than 30 new claims. It said the USPTO ruling signals that the 402 Patent re-examination proceedings are at an end.



Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. , which lost 2 per cent yesterday, announced that, following deliberations held today, Maine Public Utilities Commission has indicated it intends to approve increased investment by Emera Inc. in APUC under the APUC-EMA strategic investment agreement.

StorageVault Canada Inc. today announced the acquisition of 2.16 acres of undeveloped land in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan for $480,000. The company's intention is to use the land for an expanded PUPS portable storage operation and as location to develop a self-storage operation using PUPS storage units as fixed on-site storage lockers.





Spur Ventures Inc. today announced the appointment of John Morgan as president, CEO and a director of the company effective immediately. Mr. Morgan will succeed Dr. Rob Rennie, who has retired as President and CEO following the completion of the company's sale of its phosphate business in China. Dr. Rennie will remain with the company as a Director and has agreed to remain as an advisor to the Spur Board in order to ensure an orderly transition.







Timmins Gold Corp. , which has touched day highs at yesterday's close, announced today record gold production of 21,532 gold ounces and a gold recovery ratio of 69 per cent for its first quarter 2012 ended March 31. The company also produced 11,740 ounces of silver during the quarter.
