Drug maker Patheon Inc. says it has signed two five-year manufacturing agreements with Sanofi-Aventis.

The deals announced Monday cover products manufactured at Patheon's Swindon operations in the United Kingdom and its Bourgoin facilities in France.

The financial terms of the contracts weren't disclosed.

"We are very pleased with the partnership we have developed with Sanofi-Aventis over the past 10 years," said Patheon president and chief executive officer Wes Wheeler in a release.

In 2002, Patheon acquired operations from Aventis in Cincinnati, before the company merged with Sanofi.

Patheon provides pharmaceutical contract manufacturing and development services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.

Shares in the company were up 4 cents or 1.6 per cent to $2.57 on the Toronto Stock Exchange in early trading Monday.
