The downside of CPP hikes
Increasing Canada Pension Plan benefits is often mentioned as a way to address insufficient retirement savings. Here, the Canadian Federation of Independent Business argues that higher CPP premiums would lower the takehome pay of workers and higher contributions by business, which might then create fewer jobs. What the video doesn't address is the benefit of putting more money in the CPP – a higher level of income in retirement.
