Securities regulators have announced new, much stricter requirements for the amount of information that investment companies must provide in client statements. Most importantly, investment firms must show personalized long-term reporting on how a client's account has performed. Until the new rules take effect, here's some help for investors in calculating their own portfolio rates of return.
