How much of my portfolio should be allocated to balanced funds?Getty Images/iStockphoto

Q: How much of my portfolio should be allocated to balanced funds?

A: In our opinion, this is very dependent on your investment objectives, investing time horizon and appetite for risk. Balanced funds offer diversification across equities and fixed income in one investment solution as opposed to buying separate funds for each of equity and fixed income and can act as the core holding in any portfolio. Please keep in mind that no two balanced funds are the same - they each have different equity weights, some are domestic while others are global, and some more conservative than others. Since every investor's situation is different, we recommend that you speak to your financial advisor for advice before investing.
