Featured below are companies that have experienced recent insider trading activity in the public market through their direct and indirect ownerships, including accounts they have control or direction over.

The list features insider transaction activity; it does not convey total ownership information as an insider may hold numerous accounts.

Keep in mind, when looking at transaction activities by insiders, purchasing activity may reflect perceived value in a security. Selling activity may or may not be related to a stock’s valuation; perhaps an insider needs to raise money for personal reasons. An insider’s total holdings should be considered because a sale may, in context, be insignificant if this person has a large remaining position in the company. I tend to put great weight on insider transaction activity when I see multiple insiders trading a company’s shares or units.

Let’s begin the report featuring three stocks that have had recent insider buying activity.

Laurentian Bank of Canada (LB-T)

Two directors were buyers in the market on June 5.

Sonia Baxendale bought 800 shares at a price per share of $45.05, increasing her account balance to 2,300 shares.

David Morris, who has been on the board of directors since October 2017, accumulated 900 shares at a cost per share of $45.15, boosting his portfolio’s holdings to 1,000 shares.

SNC-Lavalin Group Inc. ( SNC-T)

On June 4, president and chief executive officer Neil Bruce purchased 10,000 shares at a cost per share of $57.54, lifting his portfolio’s holdings to 23,000 shares.

Whitecap Resources Inc. (WCP-T)

On June 4, two senior executives were buyers in the market.

President and chief executive officer Grant Fagerheim bought 12,000 shares at a price per share of $8.80, taking his sizable portfolio position up to 2,011,324 shares.

In addition, chief financial officer Thanh Kang acquired 4,345 shares at an average price per share of approximately $8.80, increasing his portfolio’s holdings to 478,198 shares.
