Punky pop princess Avril Lavigne leads the list of Canada's most beautiful people, according to Hello! Canada.
The 28-year-old singer from Belleville, Ont., appears on the cover of the celebrity gossip magazine's latest issue, which arrives on newsstands today.
Lavigne, who resides fulltime in Los Angeles and will marry Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger this summer, also appears in a seven-page photo spread inside the issue. The group of celebrities making the list was determined by the magazine's editors and runs in no particular order.
As the cover girl for the magazine's annual 50 Most Beautiful issue, Lavigne edged out such high-profile personalities as hockey player Sidney Crosby, actor Ryan Gosling and fellow pop stars Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepsen.
And as in years past, the names making the Most Beautiful list spans the spectrum of Canadian celebritydom, both past and present.
Not surprisingly, several names on the list come from currently popular TV shows, including Montreal-born Jessica Pare from Mad Men, Port Perry, Ontario native Emily VanCamp (Revenge) Revenge, Toronto's Steven Arnell (Arrow) and Ellen Wong (The Carrie Diaries) from Scarborough, Ontario.
Other thespians named to the list include Toronto-born actors Will Arnett and Scott Speedman, Edmonton's Nathan Fillion and Ryan Reynolds, who hails from Vancouver.
For reasons entirely unknown, CBC talent figured prominently in this year's Most Beautiful list with nods to Ottawa-born news anchor Amanda Lang, Toronto-based talk host George Stroumboulopoulos, Saskatoon native David Sutcliffe (Cracked) and Pascale Hutton (Arctic Air), from Creston, B.C.
And once again, some of the Beautiful Stars will be completely unknown to most people.
The average Canadian probably should know the name of up-and-coming tennis star Milos Raonic (Thornhill, Ont.), but there's no accounting for the addition of chef Cory Vitiello (Brantford), fashion model Ashley Diana Morris (Toronto) or pop ingénue Victoria Duffield (Abbottsford, B.C.) on the list.
