Less than two days after turning himself in to Toronto Police for an assault charge, Justin Bieber was back out on the town, partying until the early hours at a downtown nightclub.
Mr. Bieber was charged with assault Wednesday evening, in relation to a Dec. 30 attack on a limo driver. Police allege Mr. Bieber struck the driver several times on the head after leaving TIME nightclub in downtown Toronto.
By early Friday morning, Mr. Bieber was partying again, this time at Switch nightclub near Church and Wellington. Tucked into a VIP booth in the back of the club – where a bottle of Grey Goose vodka sells for $240 – and dressed in a sleeveless white shirt and a backwards baseball cap, Mr. Bieber danced with a group of at least a dozen friends. A pair of dark sunglasses hung off his face, despite the dark room.
Mr. Bieber's attendance attracted a fair amount of attention at the club, with a crowd of gawkers gathered nearby, trying to catch a glimpse of the pop singer. One man who tried to take a photo of the singer had his iPhone swatted out of his hand and onto the ground by security.
"People turn into animals around celebrities," a young man was heard saying as the club goers crowded and pushed to move closer to Mr. Bieber's booth.
Mr. Bieber stayed at the nightclub for at least two hours, leaving shortly before 3 a.m.
Last week, the pop star was arrested in Miami during what police describe as an illegal street drag race. Mr. Bieber faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, resisting arrest and driving with an expired licence. An arraignment date has been set for Feb. 14.
