The new daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West finally has a name – and this time it seems to be official.

According to TMZ, which claims to have seen the birth certificate, the celebrity couple have named their newborn baby North, making the child's full name North West. They plan to call her Nori for short, according to E! News, which cites a source close to the couple. The TMZ says the child will not have a middle name.

The news cancels out earlier reports that West and Kardashian had named the child Kaidence Donda West.

The TMZ report was posted Thursday night and immediately became a trending topic on Twitter.

TV host Michael Buckley (@buckhollywood) kicked off the name-bashing with, "They have named their female child after a University? After a defunct airline carrier? After the pole?"

From comedian David Schneider (@davidschneider): "Yes, North West is a stupid name for Kim and Kanye's baby but it's still better than their second choice, Fred." Fellow comedian Ross Dillon (@HypnoRoss) chimed in with, "Kim Kardashian and Kanye West named their kid North. North West. This is the reason we have bullying."

In one of the few tweets in support of the new baby's moniker, KISS rocker Gene Simmons posted: "'North is a fine name. North West. In either case, it's their baby. North is better than some I've heard: Lashonda & Facishia. What say you."

Kardashian has kept out of the public eye since giving birth to her daughter at L.A.'s Cedar Sinai Hospital last Saturday. The reality star initially revealed the sex of her child on her E! show Keeping Up with the Kardashians several weeks ago.

"Who doesn't want a girl?" said Kardashian. "They are the best and I know that's really what Kanye has always wanted. He wanted a little girl."
