Wesley Snipes is a free man, with limitations.

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons tells TMZ that the actor was released from McKean Federal Correctional Institute in Pennsylvania on Tuesday and transferred to the New York Community Corrections Office. Snipes, 50, is hereafter subject to home confinement until July 19.

Best known for his film roles in Jungle Fever, Rising Sun and the Blade movie trilogy, Snipes checked into prison in December, 2010, after he received a three-year sentence for failing to file income tax returns.

In June, 2011, the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear Snipes' appeal of the case.

Other actors who have successfully resumed their careers following extended prison stints include Tim Allen, Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Sizemore.
